You should join an art group!

Art groups can be beneficial to your journey as an artist. The question is which group can benefit you? Facebook has many art groups. Most YouTube Artists have a Facebook Group where you can post your tutorials that you do from their tutorials. Do NOT post tutorials you do with other artists, even on days designated for your original art.

I belong to a few groups, but actually only post on a couple of the groups. Groups can benefit your artistic talent. Everyone who is developing their art skills has a particular skill they are good at. Some see the contrast, some see the architecture in an object or the features in a face to draw or paint. Some are great at blending. Some are good at backgrounds or flowers, and so on. When you ask for “constructive criticism” or “cc” these individuals can help you better your art.

You have to be aware, however, that not all groups are equal. Some are better than others. You need to make sure that any group you join has governing rules that limit the type of criticism that can be delivered. It benefits no one if someone makes nasty comments. In most groups the golden rule is to encourage new artists with valid and well phrased constructive criticism.

Join an art group. Share and learn.

Until next time, happy painting!
